The PHARE Healthy Homes Program focuses on fixing housing-related health hazards in a coordinated fashion, rather than addressing a single hazard at a time.

The PHARE Healthy Homes program builds upon RACE's other rehabilitation programs in an effort to address a variety of environmental health and safety concerns in the City of Erie including

- Asthma
- Home Safety
- Allergens
- Carbon Monoxide
- And more
Healthy Homes Activities
Keep it Dry: Prevent water from entering your home through leaks in roofing systems, plumbing systems, or in basements.
Keep it Clean: Control the source of dust and contaminants.
Keep it Safe: Install smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and keep fire extinguishers on hand.
Keep it Well-Ventilated: Use whole-house ventilation for supplying fresh air, to reduce unwanted moisture and airborne contaminants.
Keep it Contaminant-Free: Reduce lead-related hazards by fixing deteriorated paint, and keeping flooring and window areas clean. Test your home for radon and install a radon removal system if high levels are detected.
Keep it Well-Maintained: Inspect, clean, and repair your home routinely. Take care of minor repairs and problems before they become large repairs and problems.
Qualifications for PHARE Healthy Homes Program
- Single-family, owner-occupied units only. Rental properties, or properties containing more than one unit, are not eligible at this time.
- Mortgage, local taxes, water/sewer/refuse accounts must not have delinquent balances.
- Current, active homeowner's insurance policy.
- Mobile homes that are not on a foundation are ineligible for RACE programs.
- Must be below 80% total gross (before taxes) income of the Average Median Income (AMI) for your household size.
