Housing rehab programs

All RACE housing rehab program income eligibility is based on 80 percent of the Area Median Income limit, as calculated by the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The purpose of this program is the rehabilitation of occupied dwellings in Erie County.

The scope of work that may be completed by RACE through the County CDBG program includes: 

  • Ensuring the health and safety of the residents.

  • Ensuring weather-tightness of the home.

  • Returning failed plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and structural systems to good working order or replacing these systems if they cannot be repaired or when replacement is more cost-effective than repair.

Components of the property that are in good working order will not be replaced or modified for beautification purposes. Repair of serious structural decay or collapse is typically beyond the scope of work that can be accomplished by the Authority.
