Adopt-A-Lot Program

What is the Adopt-a-Lot Program?

The Erie Redevelopment Authority's Adopt-a-Lot Program allows people, businesses, or community groups to care for and utilize vacant lots in their neighborhood.  Lots might be used for gardening, creating an impromptu pocket park, planting flower beds, or adding picnic tables to the lot.

Who is eligible?

Any residents, businesses, neighborhoods, watch groups, or other organizations interested in caring for vacant land in their area are eligible to adopt a lot from the Erie Redevelopment Authority.

Why should I take part?

The Adopt-a-Lot program gives you the opportunity to control and use the Redevelopment Authority-owned vacant lots near your home or business for your own benefit and your neighborhood's benefit without the burden of taxes or other financial obligations that come with ownership.

Where are the lots?

Vacant lots owned by the Erie Redevelopment Authority are scattered throughout the City, primarily north of 26th Street.  A complete list of lots available for adoption can be accessed through the Authority's website -
