The Erie Redevelopment Authority’s Homebuyer/Rehabilitation Assistance  program makes funds available to qualified 1st time homebuyers in the City of Erie.

Funds are awarded to qualified 1st time homebuyers to assist them with the  purchase and rehabilitation of their first home.  Rehabilitation involves ensuring that the home is in  compliance with City of Erie plumbing, electrical, and building codes, as well as controlling any lead-based paint hazards which may exist.

The funds are offered in the form of a deferred-payment loan, which means that no payments are required as long as the homebuyer remains in the home and retains ownership throughout the “affordability period”. The “affordability period” is either 5 or 10 years, depending on the amount of funds awarded.
